Re: The Politicaly Incorrect way to reboot

I enjoyed Lucifer's Hammer too. I thought about this too, but I have taken it that these wouldn't exist either, for the purposes of discussion. I suppose you could always plan to build one from scratch though... :ugeek: But It would drastically speed up the re-establishment of a civilisation though.

Re: The Lucifer Bug: The Road to Clachtoll Maurice Goldsmith

th - yes will read it and have a think. I just hope it wouldn't lose itself by 'going abroad'. I'm looking forward to starting it. Maurice - Yes of course. I've only read a few UK based books as this topic is most written about in the US. I really enjoyed 'There Falls No Shadow' by David E Crossley ...

Re: Books!

What about a book vault? Like the seed vault. Something in a constructed bunker style enclosure.

Re: Lucifer's Hammer

Jerry Pournelle, at one science fiction convention back in the 1980s, told us how he (when he was a teenager back in the 1940s) used that edition of the Britannica to create nitroglycerin, and luckily for him, noticed the warning that said the stuff was "extreamly hyperthermic"--he and hi...
