One of the imperatives arising from Dr. Dartnell's initiative in publishing "The Knowledge" is the realization is the best way of dealing with apocalypse is to prevent if from happening in the first place.

One of many weaknesses of the current global infrastructure is reliance on a small number of large power plants.

A better practice would be a large number of small power plants, which is exactly what we had before the industrial revolution and changes driven by economies of scale.

In the CSPAN video below, Secretary Ernest Moniz includes a slide showing one of several approaches to energy provision that DOE will be showing at the upcoming Climate Change Conference.

If you advance to 57 minutes, 24 seconds, you should see a slide of the small nuclear reactor Muniz and his team will be presenting at the climate change conference coming up.

The slide is entitled; NuScale Small Modular Nuclear Reactor

I'm not sure how SMALL it actually is, so will have to investigate further.
