Read me first

In The Knowledge book I lay out what I consider to be the most useful information for rebuilding civilisation. But the paper pages it is written on are not particularly durable, and the copy saved on my laptop hard-disk would be even more useless to a community knocked-back to rudimentary means.

So what do you think might be the best method to actually store and preserve a compilation of human knowledge? What material would be best as a storage medium? How should the text be written to remain intelligible by future humans for as long as people? Where in the world should such a repository of understanding be located?
