Wonderful, thanks for those recommendations! I've actually just finished reading World Made by Hand myself, and enjoyed it. I'll add them to the books list

Try " The Dog Stars." Similar to " The Road," but more concentration on the mechanics of survival. One scene in particular is so well written and dramatic leaves your heart pounding.

I'm in the midst of a review of the post-apocolyptic literature. Next on my list, " A Canticle for Leibowitz!"

Great stuff! I actually envy you being able to read all these wonderful books again... Do let me know if I've missed anything else off the books list

Here's a few along this theme...
Daniel H Wilson: Robopocalypse and Robogenesis
Jack Williamson: Terraforming Earth
Simon Clark: Stranger
Lois Lowry: The Giver
Dave Eggers: The Circle

My list on Goodreads, out of order, but a typical list given my demographics:

It may be somewhat self-promoting (of course, if I don't, who will?) but a few months ago I released a post-apocalyptic novel called "The Archivist" which I describe as a "post-apocalyptic Indiana Jones type of story" that you might want to check out: http://www.tomdwright.com/writing/the-archivist/

If you get the chance, try "The E-105 Project" from Amazon. It was very enjoyable and descriptive.
