DIY Footwear System

One of the big issues facing us is versatile footwear, especially in diverse environments.

We're presently accustomed to the luxury of a rack of shoes specialized for each need... town, country, wet, dry, hot, cold, in house, sport, etc..

The link below points to a description of a modular system using DIY tire sandals in conjunction with leather moccasins. They can each be used separately or together, the sandals protecting the lighter moc. Insulated over-booties can winterize them. Plans for the sandals included.

I haven't been able to try it, yet, but am looking into waxed fabric mocs. In my case I need waterproof (or at least very resistant), knee boots which can be rolled up to hip waders, and waxed fabric (cotton canvas or maybe cordura nylon?) can be waterproofed with various mixtures of oil and beeswax.
