To include kerosene as an 18th Century technology is a bit of a stretch, because (according to Wikipedia) it was invented in the 19th Century.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KeroseneHowever, it seems reasonable (to me) to suppose that a person living in the 18th century could have understood lamps and heaters designed to use kerosene.
On that basis, I would like to open this thread with a link to a provider of wicks and related items for kerosene heaters:
http://www.milesstair.com/With the assistance of instructions provided by Mr. Stair on his web site, I have brought an Aladdin Blue Flame Heater back to life.
A wick trimming tool, and a recently manufactured wick are on order.
