HugelKulture is raised-bed farming over wood/organic debris 'hills'. The hills retain water, averaging rainfall over time, and provide nutrients to surface crops. Harvest and tending is at easier arm's length. Typically surface plants follow a succession cycle.

It may be that this type of agriculture could be used effectively by nomadic or foraging societies.
